In the prosperous kingdom of Swernapuri, there ruled a brave and wise king named Veeravarman. Known for his strength and fairness, King Veeravarman was loved and respected by his people. He had a young son, Prince Rajavarman, who was gentle by nature but overly trusting and innocent. The prince believed that everyone he met was honest and good at heart.
King Veeravarman often advised his son, saying, “Rajavarman, my boy, the world is not as kind as it seems. There are people who will take advantage of your good heart If you’re not careful. You must learn to judge wisely.”
But Rajavarman would smile and reply, “Father, I believe in the goodness of people. Why should I doubt anyone without a reason?”
Though King Veeravarman admired his son’s kind heart, he worried about his ability to navigate the complexities of the world. Despite his repeated warnings, Prince Rajavarman remained unchanged.
One fateful day, the kingdom was struck by tragedy. King Veeravarman fell ill and passed away, leaving Prince Rajavarman to rule the kingdom. The young prince was devastated by the loss of his father and felt overwhelmed by the enormous responsibilities that had fallen upon his shoulders.
Soon, the cunning nobles and greedy merchants of the kingdom saw an opportunity. They flattered the young prince and convinced him to make decisions that only benefited themselves. Some asked for lands, others for gold, and many tried to twist the kingdom’s policies for their personal gain.
Rajavarman, trusting as ever, granted their requests, believing in their promises to help the kingdom. But as time passed, the prince began to notice the consequences of his choices. The kingdom’s resources dwindled, the people grew unhappy, and those he had trusted turned their backs on him.
One day, while sitting alone in the royal garden, Rajavarman remembered his father’s words: “The world is not as kind as it seems. You must learn to judge wisely.” For the first time, the prince truly understood the depth of his father’s advice.
Determined to change, Rajavarman began to observe the people around him more carefully. He questioned their motives and learned to differentiate between genuine loyalty and false flattery. Slowly, he regained control of the kingdom, standing firm against the deceitful nobles and merchants. He reclaimed the lands and wealth they had taken and restored fairness and prosperity to his people.
Though he remained kind at heart, Prince Rajavarman no longer allowed others to take advantage of him. The people admired their young ruler, who had grown into a wise and courageous king, just like his father.
From that day on, King Rajavarman ruled with justice and strength, honoring King Veeravarman’s legacy while ensuring that he never repeated the mistakes of his past.
